Q:
Is
it true that using Flash makes it difficult for search
engines to properly index my site?
A:
It is true that some search engines
do not currently index Flash content. But, that doesn’t
mean that sites that contain Flash can not be indexed at
all. It is also true that some search engines do index
Flash files.
You may optimize Flash files for search engines by utilizing
Macromedia Flash Search Engine Software Development Kit
(SDK). For the average web developer, however, the simplest
route is to use Flash sparingly on your site and build
additional content-rich pages that can be more globally
indexed by the majority of search engines. Note that
Google is currently indexing Flash files and other search
engines are following suit.
